Matthew Madden
Trombonist with AWO
Matthew is currently Music Assistant at Pembroke School and the patriarch of the AWO brass section.
​
His first professional engagement was at the age of 15 in the off stage band in an Australian Opera production of Aida. He finished his Bachelor of Music (honours) in 1997, during which he performed with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra regularly in concert, in the pit and on a country tour, the Band of the South Australian Police as well as numerous ensembles.

He started as Orchestra Manager with the Canberra Symphony Orchestra in 1998 and performed with the CSO and several ensembles in Canberra. Upon his return to Adeladie in 2001 to work with ABC Classic FM, he regularly performed with the Adelaide Art Orchestra including in several Adelaide Cabaret Festivals and touring musicals such as A Chorus Line.

He was Operations Manager with the Australian String Quartet from 2004 to 2011, touring the country four times a year, as well as a US tour for G'Day USA, and Director of Communications with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra from 2011 - 2014. He is also a patron services officer at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre, and Operations and Staging Manager with the Adelaide Chamber Singers.
